Migration News Australia Eligible occupation List update The most recent update to the combined list of eligible skilled occupations was released on 11^th March 2019 states the website,   https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/working-in-australia/skill-occupation-list.It further states that the changes were made in response to the changes in the Australian labour market and regional variations across Australia, the list is reviewed regularly by the Department of Jobs and Small Business.

ROL

Two new occupations were added to the Regional Occupation Lists (ROL) and people under this category are also eligible for a 482 visa in a regional area.

New Conditions

The below occupations had new conditions added to their eligibility for a 482 visa. To be eligible for a 482 visa a recruitment consultants must now earn $80,000 to be nominated (a reduction from $90,000), Ship’s Masters and Gas or Petroleum Operators must earn $120,000 to be nominated (an increase from $90,000), while Footballers must meet new salary conditions and earn $120,000.

Medium to Long Term Skilled list

31 Occupations have been added to the Medium to Long Term Skilled List for General Skilled Migration (GSM) otherwise known as Independent skilled ( non-employer-sponsored) migration and are now eligible for a 189 visa. This is a points-tested visa that offers permanent residence to eligible applicants in Australia or overseas

Removed occupations

Pending nomination and/or visa applications will not be impacted by the subsequent removal of any occupation from the skilled occupation lists. If you already hold a skilled visa, you will not be impacted by these removed occupations unless there are changes in your circumstances which require the lodgment of a new nomination application in which case you may then be impacted. This impact may occur if you are changing your occupation or employer, and your occupation is no longer on the combined list of eligible skilled occupations.

Available visas

The following visas are available to individuals who are qualified to work or train in an eligible skilled occupation in Australia and can meet all other requirements: Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) visa (subclass 186), Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS) visa (subclass 187)*, Skilled Independent visa (subclass 189) – Points-tested stream, Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190),Training visa (subclass 407), Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa (subclass 482),Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) – Graduate Work and Skilled Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 489).

The combined list specifies:

*the Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO) code for each occupation. The ANZSCO provides information on the skill level of jobs, qualifications and/or experience needed to work in occupations.

*caveats which exclude the use of the occupation in certain circumstances (applies to the subclass 186 and Temporary Skill Shortage visa only)

*whether the occupation is included on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL), the Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL), the Regional Occupation List (ROL) or the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS) ROL List.

*the assessing authority for skills assessments.
