Mixing It Up Melbourne Style
Impress your friends, and your own taste buds, by becoming a master of cocktail making with one of Melbourne’s master classes. The bartenders who serve you your favourites are sharing their skills so that you can recreate the classics at home. Whip up a casual daiquiri for the delivery guy and wow your new neighbours with an array of fruity alcoholic delights. Sounds good doesn’t it?
Mixology Masters At Your Service

Mobile cocktail service Mixology Masters allows you to learn the art of mixing, stirring and shaking from the comfort of your own home, or any location you desire. Liven up your work do’s by bringing the cocktail maestros to your party and watch the boss let loose! With a focus on innovation, this is one class that will actually give you an added credibility.
Something Special At Back Bar

The focus of this master class is interaction and fun, so if you’re looking for the party that comes with cocktails, this is for you. Guests are taught how to mix three different cocktails in this two-hour session, with a mixologist there to guide you with expert precision. What sets this class apart from others is the sense of an occasion, as $58pp gets guests their own private room, an arrival drink and antipasto and cheese platters. Perfect for something a bit special, as you can continue the night in the bar itself and sample a few more creations from the extensive cocktail menu.
Tasty Treats At Transit

Everyone enjoys an intense drinking session, so it’s lucky that this master class acknowledges that by giving three whole hours of expert teaching. Hosted by Jackson Watson, the drinks expert from Transit’s downstairs fine dining neighbour Taxi Dining Room, this is like being taught by the headmaster. At $49pp, there’s a nice variety too, with guests perfecting three cocktails;
traditional, technical and a Transit signature, so you can quite literally bring Transit bar skills to any event.

Drinks With A Theme At Café Vue
Café Vue embraces the creativity of the cocktail by hosting themed cocktail classes every Friday. The theme changes each month to keep things exciting, November being ‘Sporting Nation’ month. This means guests are taught the essential recipes for classic drinks you would associate with sport, using famous sporting people and creating a drink that represents them. The Mike Tyson, The Lance Armstrong, Pimm’s and tennis, horse racing and champagne… the list is endless, which is very handy indeed when it comes to recreating everything you’ve learnt at home. These nights are entire events in themselves, with five small courses by Vue de monde, matched with five cocktails by the Lui bar crew. The entire package costs $95pp, and reservations are essential.
Learn How To Host At The Apartment
This course is especially designed to make sure guests leave armed with the know-how to throw their very own cocktail parties. By attending, you’re basically carrying out a public service, bringing exotic flavours to your nearest and dearest. First, the tools of the trade are explained so you’re no longer left staring blankly at that tiny sieve… Then the bartenders whip up five cocktails,
with two made in bulk so guests can enjoy them – all for $45pp. The classic cocktails are tailored depending on the barman’s interpretation of the guests, so be good students or something sour might come your way.
Katuk
This bar offers a two-hour course for $65pp, and for those who fancy learning the expert moves without the consequential hangover, you can join in with a mocktail for $40. Once the session is over you’ll have a Pimm’s Cup, a Caprioska and a Sexy Pants creation at your fingertips. It’s worth it just for the priceless expression on your sombre Great Aunt’s face when you ask her if she’d like to try your Sexy Pants…
