Molise To Play Pier Jam & Mint Festival This September
The duo of Molise have been edging their way closer to the forefront with their groovy techno sets as of late. From DJing profusely around the North West they suddenly found their break when approached by Manchester Bitch soiree and have since never looked back. BBM Live sit down to talk about their illustrious sets, working with each other and performing two of this summers biggest events, Mint Festival and Pier Jam.
How did you two first meet? What made you strike up a friendship?
We were both dj’ing in our home town and being the only girl dj’s at the time we wanted to meet… theres only so much time we can spend around guys haha! Ele went to see Miss Molly on her night and as soon as we met – we clicked. We were joined at the hip from then on in, it was such a good feeling because we both had the exact same plans & passion. Soon after that we decided to pursue our dreams together and we’ve never looked back.
Ele, what do you love and loath about Miss Molly, and Miss Molly, same question about Ele…
What I love about Miss Molly – I love her heart, she gives everything to everyone and is such a beautiful, kind person and nothing beats surrounding yourself with people like that.
What I loath about Miss Molly – I loath the wait of her getting ready and the fact I think I have done at good job on myself until she has finished. Then I realise I have been doing my makeup the same since I was 14 years old.
What I love about Ele Vibe – She never fails to make anyone happy, the passion and love she shows is so contagious. Every night with her leaves you all a-glow
What I loath about Ele Vibe – She underestimates herself at everything but what she does is perfect & she is too modest for her own good!
Who does what? Do you have different musical background and bring different sounds and styles to the table?
We both work at everything equally to be honest! We have different ideas musically, Miss Molly absolutely loves percussion and bass whereas Ele Vibe loves the melodic and groovy styles. Its actually worked perfectly blending these styles together and we are gradually creating the unique sound we are aiming for.
When you DJ, do you have rules – i.e. one each b2b, or do you do half an hour or whatever? How does it work?
We do DJ together, we like to experience everything with each other so we can enjoy it together. We tend to do one each back to back but it depends as one of us may go on a random journey suddenly. We don’t have any rules, we bounce off each other and always surprise each other because we are so in sync with what we want to do live, even our little jig is the same.
How did you get your big break, when did it come, how did it happen?
Whilst we were djing around local clubs in the North West, a promoter from Bitch approached us to DJ at their event at Venus Nightclub in Manchester. After our first night we were asked to be residents and things kind of took off from there. Fortunately we were noticed by the right people and then we were asked to play at Mint Festival 2015. The whole experience has been and still is absolutely amazing. Its motivated us even more and has shown us what we can do.
Tell us what people should expect from you at Bitch at Mint Fest, what are you into right now?
I think what we love most about playing for Bitch is it allows us to experiment outside of our norm musically. We will leave behind our style of techno and bring more upbeat groovy tech with some very unpredictable vocals. Expect the unexpected!
And the 10th birthday, what can expect from that one?
Bitch always has such an incredible vibe and we get so much back from the crowd, but this will be extra special as we will have our own productions finished for everyone to enjoy.

What has it been like to be involved in such landmark show and brand?
It has been such a rewarding experience. Bitch is on another level. Not only have they got the talents to showcase good music, they also throw amazing shows to come with it. The people involved in the brand really can’t do enough for you and it means we have a nice little musical family to enjoy everything with. We are very grateful to be a part of it all and that people are coming to listen to our music.
How do you like playing festivals vs clubs? Do you switch up your sound much? Does the sun influence things?
The two are both very different experiences. You can’t beat festivals as it’s always an incredible feeling creating such a good vibe for hundreds of people who you don’t know and who don’t know each other but have come together for the same thing. But at the same time you can’t beat the intimacy of clubs, we came into this as ravers and nothing beats being able to rave with the crowd in front of you.
You also play Pier Jam soon – do you ever prep for your sets, plan special things, work out what might work best?
Yes we always try to prep, but that depends on the crowd and what they’re feeling at the time. We always like to throw a twist and a few surprises in our sets too, we like to keep things fun.
What else you got coming up/are you looking forward to?
We have a few things coming up, some of which we can’t talk about right now (we do apologise)! However, we launched our brand Makeda last year, which is focused predominantly on female DJ’s. We have our debut at Sankeys, Manchester in August and we have some big plans as to where we want to take the brand. We have a busy month with Festivals coming up in September & ADE in October, but our main focus is on our upcoming releases.
Finally, do you make music too? Or have plans to? What does/will it sound like?
At the moment we spend the majority of our time in the studio working on music with the help of Last 3 Digits. We are working on a few different projects which are quite varied, but our main sound is melodic techno with lots of bass! These should be ready for you by 2017 and hopefully this will then be the next chapter for us.
