More What Not To Miss At Sydney Film Festival 2015
Following on from our What Not To Miss At Sydney Film Festival 2015, there are so many amazing film screenings, discussions and other events, here are some more to fill up your social calendars with!
Women He’s Undressed
A celebration of an unsung Australian cinema costume designer, Women He’s Undressed tells the story of Orry-Kelly, a man that dressed (and undressed) stars such as Marilyn Monroe, Shirely MacLaine and Natalie Wood in the 1950s, even winning three Oscars for his work. Outspoken, sexual and under-appreciated, this Gillian Armstrong documentary is packed with clips and interviews from way back when.
11th June – State Theatre
13th June – Hayden Orpheum Cremorne 4
Drunk Stoned Brilliant Dead: The Story of the National Lampoon
What do Bill Murray, The Simpsons and Harvard University have in common? National Lampoon. A satirical and hilarious magazine spawned from the Harvard Lampoon in the early 1970s, it attracted the likes of P.J. O’Rourke, Michael O’Donoghue, Arnold Roth, Mike Reiss and Al Jean to work on its pages. In Drunk Stones Brilliant Dead: The Story of the National Lampoon, we’re treated to rebellious footage of both print and stage, when live comedy from Bill Murray, John Belushi and Chevy Chase was added to promote the magazine. Prepare to laugh yourselves silly in this trip down memory lane of an influential and infamous publication.
5th and 8th June – Event Cinemas George Street 9
Foodies – Gourmet
A look at one of the current trends in food and dining, Foodies lets you into the world of the food blogger. From New York, to London and Hong Kong, you will meet, on screen, the people that dine at the best restaurants in town and then share their experiences online. The screening of Foodies will be followed by a meal at Azuma, which continues the theme of eating with your eyes first as each dish is plated with art and beauty in mind.
10th June – Dendy Opera Quays Cinema 2 and Azuma
Deathgasm
Time for something a little out of the ordinary, Deathgasm is a bloody mess with heavy metal music, good-girls-gone-bad, repulsive supernatural entities and Christians. It tells the story of four guys that set up their own band, and then the hapless chaps soon summon Aeloth, a beast that wants to kill all of mankind, when all they wanted to do was play some drums and guitar. Get ready to laugh and cry as this Kiwi horror flick throws everything at you from all angles.

7th June – Dendy Newtown Cinema 1
