Morning Smoke Hunger
Brighton-based Morning Smoke have been busy seizing the attention of alternative press for their angst ridden alt-pop, and their new single ‘Hunger’ doesn’t shy away from this smouldering hype.
The four-piece have been kept busy this summer creating an active stage presence performing at a variety of shows and festivals including The Great Escape, supporting Joel Gion and recording new material.
Their new single ‘Hunger’, released on 1st December, is a combination of riffs and melodies akin to a Nirvana practice session. Filled with irresistible riffs, washed in dreamy reverbs and led by steady mid tempo drumbeats, the pre-gothic double-A side is an overall infusion of memorable musicianship. Having been compared to Sonic Youth, Joy Division and Interpol, Milo’s vocal impact stays with the listener for a long while after. Filled with irresistible riffs, washed in dreamy reverbs and led by steady mid tempo drumbeats, the pre-gothic double-A side is an overall infusion of memorable musicianship.
The combination of psychedelic shoegaze and pumping rock serves as a ringing endorsement of their potential.
