Explore the Maheno Shipwreck
Maheno in Maori translates to ‘island’, which is fitting for where this ship has washed up. Built in Scotland to serve as an ocean liner, the ship sailed between Australia and New Zealand, until in 1936 when a cyclone caused the vessel to wash up on the shores of Fraser Island’s 75 Mile Beach.
Indian Head – a great lookout point
For an instagram-worthy moment, head over to the northern edge of 75 Mile Beach and climb up Indian Head. You’ll want to make sure you’re fully charged, as you are rewarded with stunning 360-degree views of the island and ocean.
Eli Creek – a treat on hot days
Hidden between clumps of tall trees, Eli Creek is a pretty neat treat on a long hot day. Jump in and cool off in this creek, spilling a total of 80 million litres of water to the ocean daily.
