Nicolas Jaar Presents Darkside- ‘A1’ – Single Review

Nicolas Jaar has made a considerable name for himself in electronic music circles these past few years. The American-Chilean producer of dark, minimal electronica has been somewhat prolific, releasing a stream of EPs and tracks, and has now started a new project with guitarist Dave Harrington entitled Darkside.

‘A1′ is their first offering, and it is good start for the collaboration.

An atmospheric, dense and catchy track that makes good use of the pair’s respective talents, ‘A1′ fuses Harrington’s funk inspired guitar with Jaar’s brooding electronics surprisingly well. Eerie vocals and a thumping backbeat complete the mix, and may well result in the song becoming a dancefloor filler in the months to come. The self-titled EP featuring the song is now available via Jaar’s own label, Clown & Sunset.
