Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds – Artist Profile
If you haven’t heard of Noel Gallagher then frankly, you must have been living under a rock for the past 20 years. A key part of the phenomenally successful (but often critically derided) British guitar band Oasis, Noel- along with snarly brother Liam- has turned out some of the most popular and recognisable songs in the modern rock ‘n’ roll canon. Major hits such as ‘Wonderwall’ and ‘Don’t Look Back in Anger’ and albums like ‘Definitely Maybe’ were largely constructed by the guitar and pen of the older Gallagher, and now, after more high profile and bitter fall outs with his horrible brother than a Cheryl Cole marriage, he is going it alone. Gallagher released his solo debut, Noel Gallagher and His High Flying Birds in October this year, and found himself immediately up against Liam’s Beady Eye. Though it is likely Gallagher will be primarily remembered for his contribution to Oasis, his latest LP proved there is life in the old dog yet.
You can catch Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds this January at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre, 23rd January.
