ALEKS AND THE RAMPS (album launch) – On sale Monday 23 January
Friday 23 March 2012 8:30pm
Melbourne’s art-pop explorers Aleks and The Ramps are thrilled to announce the upcoming release of their third album, ‘Facts’, in February 2012. The album, to be launched at this show, is a continued refining of the hook-laden, shimmering pop sounds the band developed on ‘Midnight Believer’ and the sound of the band striking out in a darker, more personal direction. From the upbeat pop serenade of opening track ‘Crocodile’, to the infectious pop of most recent single ‘Middle Aged Unicorn on Beach with Sunset’ (the psychedelic video features a singing flower and was listed at #3 in Mess & Noise’s ‘Best Clips of 2011′ list), ‘Facts’ showcases Aleks and The Ramps’ unique sound; dreamy soundscapes juxtaposed with Alex Badham’s trademark deadpan vocals and stoic lyricism. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6L4tQVvA-I

THE WEDDING PRESENT (UK)
Saturday 14 April 2012 8:30pm
Having enjoyed eighteen UK Top 40 singles (and perennial favourites of legendary radio DJ John Peel), The Wedding Present now visit Australia for the first time ever since their 1985 inception to celebrate the release of their eighth studio album ‘Valentina’ in March 2012. Propelled by founding member David Gedge’s perpetual broken heart and incisively brazen lyrics, ‘Valentina’ turns a fresh page on the band’s noisy guitar pop tradition – one that has inspired several generations of canny pop fans and indie rock bands alike. As well as showcasing tracks from the new album, The Wedding Present will also perform their classic 1991 Steve Albini-produced album ‘Seamonsters’ in its entirety.
