Lake Taupo region attracts locals and visitors alike all year round.   Lake Taupo was formed by a volcanic explosion in AD 186.  It is the biggest lake in New Zealand.  Mountains, bushland, geothermal hot spots, serene lakes and volcanic terrain are some of the amazing geological features of this region.  The region of Lake Taupo has a number of activities to choose from all year round.  Skydiving, fishing, sailing, water sports etc. are some of them.

1. Tandem Skydiving over Lake Taupo

3. Trout fishing on Lake Taupo

Grab your fishing gear, hire a boat and go on a fishing expedition at Lake Taupo!  Rainbow and Brown trout are the most dominant fish in Lake Taupo.  They were introduced to the lake in 1898.  Lake Taupo is the last known resource of natural wild trout in the world.  As per New Zealand law, trout can only be caught for personal use with a local fishing license.
