Oceania Freestyle Football Championships, Sunday 24th November 2013
Queensbridge Square in Melbourne will be home to some mad football skills on Sunday 24th November 2013, as “Tricks with a soccer ball” invites keen sportsmen to witness Australia’s freestyle stars battle against New Zealand’s best tricksters. The average Joe will also have the chance to unleash their inner pro football player. And we all know that’s something every guy claims to have.
Freestyle Football is not just about sport, but the art of sport. Specifically, the art of performing tricks with a football. How is this art you ask? Because there’s a lot more involved than the ability to do a decent header. It’s about using various parts of the body to music, in a head to head sport format. And what’s more, it’s now a fully recognised sport with its own governing body, F3.
During the Morning the launch of the OF3 Freestyle Football Coaching Clinics will take place from 11am. All those hours on FIFA are either about to pay off or hammer home the fact being a virtual footy god doesn’t quite carry through to reality.
The Main Event starts at Noon and consists of 16 x 90 second routines, choreographed to music which determines the battle rankings. Then the battle itself will follow in 3 minute head to head battles in a knockout format.
With gift vouchers or product packs for the competitors, this is your big chance to become a freestyle football hero, or for those of you who’ve never quite mastered the keepy-uppy, it’s sure to make very impressive viewing.
