How To Spend Oktoberfest In London

Follow us on Google News

Can’t make it over to Munich this year for the annual Oktoberfest? Fear not as you can spend Oktoberfest in London! Grab your Lederhosen from off the shelf and start thinking beer and bratwurst as the world’s best-loved beer festival comes to the capital.

Oktoberfest London comes to Millwall Park this month

The lovely people at World Wide Oktoberfest have announced the official dates for London Oktoberfest 2016 and barrels of delicious Bavarian brews will be coming to Canary Wharf’s Millwall Park from the end of this month until the beginning of October.

The yearly celebration of all things beer has earned its international status as one of the favourite end of the summer parties and has now been spreading its wings from its traditional home in Munich, Germany to the city of London for a mammoth 6 years, and year in year out it has been a winner with the Brits.

The venue for this mighty booze-fest is a giant marquee with a whopping 3,300 seats for the session of the year. The beer on offer will be the mouth-watering Bavarian Festbeer (5%) – a delightfully dark golden lager with a tangy hoppy aftertaste.

Of course (believe it or not), Oktoberfest is about much more than just wetting your whistle. There will be a classic Oom-Pah German band and live music performances all night long, and the bar staff will be transporting you onto the continent with full-on traditional German dress. Note that Lederhosen and Dirndl are positively encouraged, with fancy dress rewarded with a free beer on Student Thursdays!

There will be a delicious selection of German culinary specialities on offer to from the classic German schnitzel and pork Schweinebraten, delectable doughy prezels, grilled chicken known as händal veggie options will be available too.

Head down to this year’s Oktober fest from 29th September – 2nd October and 6th October – 9th October in Canary Wharf’s Millwall Park. Note that the event is strictly 18+, except for Sunday when kids are allowed to get in for free.
