One To Watch: Davido

Over the past year the sound of Afrobeats has become more and more prevalent in the UK, first making an impact in the clubs and more recently the charts. Fuse ODG leading the charge with two top 10 singles and even an interview with Jeremy Paxman on Newsnight.

Alongside other heavyweights of the scene such as Mista Silva and Wiz Kid, Davido, a 21-year-old Nigerian artist, has been paving the way for the genre in London and the rest of the UK.

Already a number one smash in the club charts and A-listed on BBC 1Xtra, 17th March 2014 marks the release of Davido’s first UK single ‘Skelewu’.

Raking millions of views on YouTube and selling over 3 million copies of his debut album ‘O.B.O.’ Davido has definitely been making a stir in Africa and is slowly making his way to breaking into the UK.
