One To Watch- Myami
Melbourne electro-pop songstress MYAMI releases second single “I OH I” (produced. by Wayfarer//)
With a hugely popular reaction to her debut “Soldier” five months ago, Myami releases her second single off the upcoming Armour EP, giving us a second taste of her mesmerising sound.
“I OH I” was produced by Melbourne beatmaker Wayfarer//, and focuses on the idea growing up as a competitive teenager and trying to figure out who you are amongst the jungle of voices telling you who to be. These themes explored will touch a lot of people who may recognise themselves within and therefore relate to the track. This could be a positive for Myami, who is sure to see her fan base grow as a result.
“The song is a flash back to look at the person I was, growing up in the often toxic surroundings of a teenage girls life”, says Myami, explaining her reasoning behind the track.
The largely upbeat, jolly sounding track contrasts with the content of the lyrics- the element of pop disguises the important message behind the song. The trap style drums add an edgier, electronic vibe, with the chorus framing the song as a whole.
Myami takes sounds created from her home studio. The Melbourne based singer songwriter has crafted her own distinct sound of melodic electro-pop. Drawing inspiration from nostalgic roots of Mariah Carey, TLC and Destiny’s Child, her tracks are mostly vocally driven with layered beats to give them depth.
Arriving onto the scene in early 2015, Soldier has given her a great lift up into raging success. Keep your ears peeled for the much-anticipated release of MYAMI’s debut EP, ARMOUR in Spring 2015; we certainly can’t wait; Myami is definitely one to watch.
