How did you get your break into the music scene?
I had been busking a lot and playing some gigs and some people from Sony had heard about me so they contacted me asking if I would be interested in doing some demos. We just went into the studio and they liked the demos so much that they asked me if they could release them as a record.
How would you describe your sound to somebody unfamiliar with your music?
I kind of like to think of it as like James Brown or Bob Marley, but I think it probably sounds a bit more like Bob Dylan. It is kind of folky, I like a lot of Prince music so I think that maybe a bit of that comes across.
What has been the most embarra
ssing thing to happen to you on stage?
There are probably things I should have been embarrassed about but I wasn’t, like trying to break dance at the Oxton Festival. But it was a really good gig so I was break dancing coz I was happy.
Well I haven’t played there in like nine years. I just remember it being a lot of fun last time, the gigs were a really good craic. It’s a nice place, if nice is the right word.
