
Parramasala Festival 2013 Program Announced
Parramasala is the exciting festival that transforms the city of Parramatta into a hub of music, performances and delicious cuisine of Asian influences. Now in its fourth year the festival have announced an action-packed program for the 2013 schedule.
The festival that takes place between Friday 4th – Monday 7th October will kick off with a visually stunning procession in a multicultural parade. With Bollywood dancers and Lebanese drummers Sydney will be uniting for a giant street party of diverse talent – keep an eye out for floats and animals! Following that the Opening Concert begins with a line-up on internationally renowned artists including headliner Raghu Dixit, L-Fresh, Karifi and his African Union Beats. Expect to hear a fusion of sounds and the crackling of fireworks.
Throughout the event you can experience the atmosphere of a bazaar in a buzzing experience of authentic goods. The Masala Markets will host over 30 stalls with goodies such as fabric, spices, arts, crafts and food available for purchase. If you fancy relaxing after a busy day at the markets then the beautiful Chai Temple is the place to be. Decorated with stunning rugs and couches, the soothing cups of tea and coffee will make you feel at home.
Documentaries from contemporary artists will be running throughout the festival, showing an exploration of both North and South India. There will be a number of acrobatic and dancing performances throughout the festival that are sure to delight, alongside some exclusive and unmissable ticketed events. If you didn’t think the festival could get any bigger the King of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan will be gracing the Parramasala Festival with his presence, in a two-hour variety performance show on the closing night.
The Parramasala Festival takes place in the multicultural home of Australia, and is definitely worth a visit.
