Ireland's Phil Kieran Is Back
Our favourite Belfast-born, beat-making aficionado is returning to Australia this summer.
Phil Kieran, the producer and DJ who has earned a highly respected reputation within the worlds of house, techno, and breakbeat, has been practising his craft for over 20 years. He’s featured on notable record labels such as Cocoon, Hotflush and Optimo.
Kieran prides himself on being the kind of musician who never follows a trend, often carving a path of his own that challenges the ideals of traditional dance music genres. His style in one sentence?: “I only get excited about making music when I think people are going to go ‘what the fuck are you doing?’”.
After spending the past year playing alongside the likes of Heidi, Dense & Pika and Nina Kraviz, and accelerating his own record label Phil Kieran Records, he has found the time to release a new body of work titled ‘Polyrhythmic’ released on Optimo Records. That 12” release is all things funky, carefully crafted house music, and undeniably infectious on the dancefloor.
Check out this latest work of his and more at Green Velvet Day Party in Melbourne on November 17th for some open-air magic, at Club 77 in sunny Sydney also on the 17th, or at Shambles Brewery in Hobart on Saturday the 18th of November. You won’t regret it.
