Pudsey Gets A Makeover
Last year we saw Pudsey Bear become a style icon when the Designer Pudsey Collection was launched in aid of Children In Need 2011, but this year the Designer Pudsey Collection is bigger and better.
This year 14 Pudsey Bears were given a makeover by leading fashion designers including Kate Spade, Pucci, Henry Holland, Victoria Beckham, Paul Smith and Missoni to name a few. Curated by Katie Grand, Editor of LOVE Magazine, the BBC reports Grand’s comments on the Designer Pudsey Collection 2012, “I was honoured to curate this fantastic collection, and have had such fun working with the designers on all of their amazing designs,” said Katie. “BBC Children in Need is an incredibly worthwhile cause, and one which myself and all of the designers involved in the collection are privileged to support.”
In 2011, The Designer Collection: Pudsy was auctioned off, raising over £50,000 for Children In Need. The project was voted one of The Independent’s ‘Top 15 Fashion Moments Of The Year’ and in 2012 the collection has become even bigger and better.
Over thirty International and British Designers have given Pudsey a complete style overhaul. The collection sees Pudsey fashioned with a variety of different fabrics and techniques. With contributions from Burberry, Vivienne Westwood, Victoria Beckham, Tom Ford, Prada, Louis Vuitton and many other celebrated fashion houses, the auction at Christies in London is certain to raise a lot of money for Children In Need.
Here at BBM our favourite is Giles Deacon’s offering. His glitterball interpretation of the Children In Need mascot has been hand embroidered with £20,000 worth of Swarovski’s finest crystal. It may have taken a month to embroider all of the pieces but it is sure to stand out at auction.
