Q&A With A Seven Seas Worldwide Customer

Follow us on Google News

Over the summer, Seven Seas Worldwide spoke to a group of customers about the issue of moving treasured possessions across the world. The response was informative and, at times, enlightening. Check out the Q&A with one satisfied customer.

While researching for your move, what were the top three things you wanted to know?
First and foremost, I wanted to know everything I could about Seven Seas Worldwide! After all, these were the people who would be sending my stuff halfway across the globe! I did as much research into them online as I could – not just looking at their website but also independent review sites, press releases and travel forums. In addition to this, I also wanted to know about the process involved – how long would my belongings be at the depots and ports? Would any of my items be scrutinised at Customs? And thirdly, how quickly would I be able to see my belongings reach their final destination? Would it be worth spending the extra money on air freight to see my consignment arrive sooner?

Were there any other sources of information you found useful like newspapers and magazines?
I got everything I needed from the Internet. Only online can you find genuine customer experience on forums and social media.

Why did you choose Seven Seas Worldwide?
I am at university so I’m surrounded by people in the same boat! Several friends on campus mentioned them whilst we were talking about affordable ways to get our things moved back home abroad. One of our tutors spoke of them too, saying he used them back in 2004, so that was reassuring. The sea freight options at Seven Seas Worldwide were really attractive and I think quite a few of us plumped for them in the end.

How easy did you find getting a quote from Seven Seas Worldwide?
Their online quote engine is probably the easiest I’ve ever come across. They provide all the details you need, together with a total price within minutes. There are a lot of documents that go with
your order which can seem daunting at first but it’s essential if you want things to go smoothly. The whole shipping process is a long and complex one and Seven Seas Worldwide have done their best to make things as simple as possible for the customer, which I appreciate. They also operate 24/7 which I was very impressed by.

Was the time of transfer as you expected and were you happy with this?
The transfer time by sea is considerably longer compared to air but I saved a lot of money in the process. The trick is to just plan ahead: If you know you’re going to be home for Christmas, order your boxes in the summer! Work out the precise day you would like your boxes to be delivered to your front door and work back however many weeks to the day when you absolutely have to have those boxes collected. It took me a while to figure this out but I got there in the end! And my wallet is very grateful for it.

What is the one piece of advice you would give to someone leaving home and relocating abroad?
Don’t bring everything with you! Essential, personal items are fine but if you’re staying overseas for the foreseeable future, leave items like bulky furniture or your book collection at home or put it in storage because starting a new chapter abroad doesn’t mean dragging your past with you. Plus everyone likes to buy new stuff, right?
