Rich Mix Music Listings
As all eyes turn East as we approach the summer, Shoreditch cinema and arts centre Rich Mix presents an exciting programme of live music events including a free 20-day festival of live music, DJs, films, art, food and football.
On Friday 4 May we kick off the season in true British style with a proper east-end knees-up with the Best of British After-Party featuring music from The Coolness – a mix of theatrical pop rock and (uber-hip) electronic music.
The following night, Saturday 5 May, Love Music Hate Racism return with a night celebrating the sounds of two tone Britain featuring Jerry Dammers (Ex-Specials), Zana Rose and Pandit G (DJ).
We host A Night of Afropolitan Divas on Saturday 12 May featuring inimitable Somali legend, Maryam Mursal, and Eritrean-born singer Miryam Solomon.
During June we present East in East: Euro 2012 Festival, a celebration linking Eastern European music, arts, culture, and European Championship Football. All matches will be shown for free on giant 15 x 10 foot screen, with free live music or performances after each match showcasing of the best of the best of London’s Eastern European talent.
Confirmed acts and events include Mahala Rai Banda, Csergo Band, Tania Tzarovska, Dash Café, London Liming Eastern European Special, Radio Gagarin, Muha, Igor Outkine’s Battleship Potemkin Rescore, Arhai, Shekoyokh, Monooka’s Caravan, Warsaw Village Band, Gadjo and Shtetl Superstars. The festival is sponsored by Telford Homes.
Our fantastic line up of regular nights return over the summer. The coolest ping pong party on the planet, Pongathon, continues every other Tuesday of the month. The UK’s brightest stars of spoken word perform to sublime improvised soundtracks at Tongue Fu and London’s only Pan African family adventure, Mwalimu Express, chugs into Rich Mix with a dazzling experience of Africa and the Diaspora.
We finish off the season in July with two outstanding brass nights with a difference. On Saturday 14 July, leave your preconception about brass at the door for Breakn’ Brass, which combines brass bands with a B-Boy competition. Described by Village Voice as the “missing link between Public Enemy and Louis Armstrong” the incredible Soul Rebels Brass Band will bring down the house on Tuesday 24 July.

The Best of British After-party brings to an end the three evening performances of the London debut of the play, Ten Men, in true British style with a proper east-end knees-up featuring music the Coolness – a mix of theatrical pop rock and (uber-hip) electronic music.
