Roots Manuva Australian Tour This Weekend
Still burning up the airwaves with Toddla T on Watch Me Dance, Rodney Smith aka Roots Manuva returns to Australia with his full live band performing tracks off his brand new album 4everevolution as well as the classics from one of the most indelliable figures on the world Hip Hop stage over the last twelve years.
Making his mark with 1999’s debut Brand New Second Hand, Roots Manuva’s classic gravelly Jamaican flow has never been matched and his complex subject matter and use of language has developed across albums Run Come Save Me, Awfully Deep, Slime & Reason and a number of Dub interpretations and remixes of those albums. He has been a mainstay of Australian radio with tunes like Witness (One Hope), Collosal Insight and Let The Spirit dominating both airwaves and clubs still to this day.
His new album explores many sides and tempos of music perhaps not immediately associated with Smith, whose usual bag is a mix of smokey, reggae influenced downtempo and soundsystem culture. 4everevolution sees him flexing over other contemporary UK sounds like Funky and Dubstep (that have been influenced by his familiar Jamaica) and is mostly helmed by Manuva at the boards as well as including outside help from producers like local man Dizz1 who dominates on the forthcoming next single Here We Go Again.
Bringing with him his full live band, Roots Manuva will be setting venues ablaze with five studio albums worth of material as well as giving Australian audiences some of the first tastes in the world of the new material in a live setting.
