Scuba’s Deep Excursion Down Under
Techno maverick Scuba is about to head to Australian shores for a massive five-date tour.
Scuba aka Paul Rose has been busy pioneering the electronic dance scene’s bass-heavy landscape via his own productions and record label Hotflush for over a decade. He’s released three artist albums, won a DJ Mag Best Live act award, played a Boiler Room set in Berlin, run a night at the notorious Berghain and spun a mix for the revered DJ Kicks. In his spare time he also also enjoys unearthing new artists, a few fresh faces being Mount Kimbie, George FitzGerald, and Sepalcure – fresh indeed.
Scuba likes to keep it real, when he described the current direction of Hotflush he said it was going towards “the grassroots nitty-gritty dance-scene stuff”. The new direction can be heard with recent releases from Dense & Pika and Trevino, the latter being accompanied by remixes from Len Faki and George Fitzgerald.
Of late he has been featured in the news quite regularly as he compiled the first fabric compilation after news filtered through of the club’s closure. In act of solidarity, Rose has donated all his proceeds from the compilation to go towards fabric legal fees.
Scuba is now bringing his electronic wisdom to educate Australian punters with a nation-wide tour which kicks off on the 25th of November. First stop is in Perth at Geisha Bar, he’ll then journey to earthcore Festival in Victoria to play alongside artists such as Julian Jewell and Miguel Bastida, after which The T.B.C. Club in Brisbane is the next stop on the 27th of November. Adelaide-natives can see Scuba at Sugar on December the 2nd, and finally Goodbar in Sydney on Saturday the 3rd will be the swan song date for the tour.
