Seth Schwarz Talks Fusion, BPM and 6 countries you need on your bucket list

What’s your name and what do you?
My name is Seth Schwarz. I produce music and play the electric violin live on stage while spinning good electronic music. I also travel and explore – all while being a part time medical doctor.
What kind of music do you play?
The music I play blends between Techno, House, Downtempo, and is always melodic.
What would you say is your biggest influence?
The following artists are big influencers to my music: J Dilla, Stephan Bodzin, Be Svendsen, Antonin Dvorak.
Where’s the best club you’ve ever played?
Kater Blau, Berlin.
And the best festival?
Fusion Festival in Lärz.

Where’s the most unique festival you’ve been to and what was so special?
Kilifi NYE Festival located in the Dschungel at the Kenyan East Coast. Seeing a festival improve so quickly within three years and end up pulling globetrotters from all over the world, is just great. It was surreal playing a stage that is situated in a gigantic Baobab tree with the first Function One System, giving quite a spectacular view back from the eyes of the audience.
What was the most difficult festival you ever went to and was it worth it?
Burning Man, it’s a lot more than a festival. The setting in the desert is just surreal, surrounded by amazing artwork that is only to last for the week. The experience of it all being burned to ashes is a great reminder that sometimes thing only last a very short time, so
we are to embrace these sparkling and shiny moments. Also – knowing that your gear is likely to die during your set or you might never make it to your set due to sandstorms and the heat, is quite a nice challenge.
Where’s your hometown?
My hometown is a very green city, Halle, south of Berlin.
What’s your favourite local bar/restaurant/bar/club?
We are building the new club called ENDLOS, the old one was already my favorite. My favourite table in Halle is called “Speiseberg.“ It sits on top of a hill while the beautiful Saale River is passing by. They have a high-end menu that they change every two weeks.
Where’s your favourite clubbing destination?
Sysiphos, Berlin.
Is there something you can’t travel without?
I was made to travel through Namibia for three weeks and not allowed to bring my laptop. I guess I wouldn’t wanna go again without it. It’s the best getting musical ideas directly into the DAW while you still have it in your head.

Where was the most surprising place you discovered a big musical influence?
I was playing a set at BPM festival Mexico near Tulum, the day after I took the pyramid/Tempel tour and funnily went on the same small group with Richie Hawtin. He was super chilled and we talked about how he liked Fusion Festival.
