Ship Your Dogs And Cats With AirPets Ltd
The whole migration process to Australia can see you moving everything from your family, homely possessions and even your beloved pets. Whether you’re moving Down Under permanently or for a fixed period of time, the helpful team at AirPets Ltd can help you be reunited with your pets once you’ve landed. The whole process can be quite stressful so we put our questions to Sarah Whittington at AirPets to put your minds at ease.
Would you say that your customers are at ease when leaving their pets in the care of AirPets Ltd? How do you reassure your customers?
Yes! We have months and months of correspondence with some of our customers before the actual date of the flight and we have gone over the process, answered their questions, some of them even come to meet us with their pets ahead of time, they can take away the travel box for the pet to get used to at home and have a look around our premises. It is always going to be a worrying time for the owner, we try to make it as stress free as possible for the owner and of course, the pet.
Do you offer pre and post shipping examinations of the pets to determine their mental and physical condition for flying?
Yes, all airlines require a health check ahead of the pet’s flight and some countries require a DEFRA export health certificate. We have on-site vets here every day.
How far does your shipping service range? What are the specs for the smallest to largest animals that you can ship to Australia?
We only send cats and dogs into Australia, small and large!
Does Australia have its own restrictions that mean particular pets cannot travel to the country?
Yes, we as a company can only send cats and dogs from the UK. The owner would need to check any pet restrictions with Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
Can families/individuals insure their pets against any injuries and accidents that may occur during the flight to Australia?
Pets travel in International Air Transport Association approved travel boxes, these are safe and they are allowed some comfortable bedding to travel in there with them. They cannot wear collars/coats/leads that may cause injury.
What are the conditions like for the animals on board a flight?
Animals travel in a special section of the hold. It’s perfectly safe, heated and pressurised.
Are the pets sedated during the flight to Australia?
No. We can recommend safe herbal substitutes that we find very effective.
If the move to Australia isn’t necessarily long-term, would you advise the owners of animals to leave pets back in the UK?
Possibly, it’s a long process to prepare the pet for travel from the UK as they need a rabies vaccination and blood test 180 days (6 months) before the pet can travel to Australia, along with many other treatments nearer the date of travel.
Do you offer services to take care of pets in the UK for people who are leaving the country for a more short-term period?
Yes we are a boarding and quarantine facility and we can look after pets for as long as needed. We
have some staying with us for months at a time!
What advice and tips could you offer people considering flying their pets to Australia?
Plan ahead, you will require 7+ months to meet the Australian requirements.
