Single Review: Belleruche – Stormbird
Ahead of their fourth album ‘Rollerchain’ set for release on 7th May 2012, Belleruche release ‘Stormbird’, which we at BBM have just fallen in love with.
Fusing electro and rock, Belleruche’s sound stands out from the electronically saturated music scene of now. Vocals patter over the top of a constant pulsing guitar riff which is backed by a swelling howl of a climbing bass. Stripping back down to a more rock sound in the middle of the track, the tempo slows down, before quickly climbing back into a frantic pulse of vocals and backing, before an abrupt finish.
Like all good songs, it’s a tad too short and it’s over before you know it, but believe us when we say it’s an enjoyable 2 minutes and 59 seconds.
If you like Portishead, Blondie, Róisín Murphy or Goldfrappe, you’ll appreciate Belleruche in all their glory, and we for one, cannot wait for ‘Rollerchain’ to be released.
Make sure you don’t miss Belleruche’s major London gig – 31st May at Scala, London.
