Single Review: Foreign Beggars ‘Palm Of My Hand’
‘Palm Of My Hand’ is the latest single to be released by the UK’s critically acclaimed grime and dub-step group Foreign Beggars. Since 2002 they’ve taken the British scene by storm and have been seen rapping alongside some of the biggest names in the industry ever since. This new single will be the first glimpse of the bands music after signing to mau5trap Records, the label recently setup by the mouse-shaped hat
wearing, super DJ, deadmau5, and die hard fans will be hoping for more of the same top notch, “speaker busting” song making as before.
Kidkanevial is responsible for the production on the track, and it isn’t too dissimilar to a soundtrack found on most 90s Gameboy games. The 8-bit frequencies that pulse throughout the beat are cute to begin with, but when you’re not completing levels and defeating ‘Bosses’, they soon become irritating.
It’s likely to be the unique rapping style of Foreign Beggars that followers will instantly recognise, and will hopefully set the group aside from the ruthless competition. The lyrical content is certainly not the most original of our generation, “Got the fans all yellin’ “Yo bring it back”/But you’ll be like “Nah that shit is whack”” but there are a couple of rhymes present that will certainly raise a smile
to anyone listening.
As the tracks title suggests, Foreign Beggars are feeling pretty good about themselves, and rightly so. They’ve been working hard setting up their label Dented Records and releasing music on their own terms for the last 10 years, and it seems that all their hard work is finally paying off. No doubt this fresh release will bring about a much wider audience, whilst managing to satisfy the people who have
followed them since the very beginning.
