Single Review: Goldie Featuring Natalie Duncan – Freedom
Drum and bass fans across the country rejoice! Goldie is back at it again with the release of his 100th single entitled ‘Freedom’ from the record label Metalheadz.
Goldie’s newest single features Natalie Duncan, an incredibly soulful singer and musician whom Goldie mentored during last year’s BBC television show ‘Goldie’s Band – By Royal Appointment’. Although Goldie had the option to work with more or less any musician in the UK, Goldie takes pride on uncovering fresh, new talent across the UK – and Natalie Duncan is certainly one to watch.
Goldie, who has been empowering the UK Drum and Bass scene for the last 26 years, is certainly legendary. His music is passionate and profound and infused with his own unique personality. ‘Freedom’ takes heed to this and leaves listeners with a tune that is challenging and intriguing and will leave fans wanting more. The single is to be released as a one track limited edition vinyl, with a hand-written statement from Goldie etched on the back.
MistaJam from BBC Radio 1 explains the single as ‘Simply breath-taking. Goldie proving why he remains so relevant after 17 years after his breakthrough. Long live Metalheadz!’ ‘Freedom’ is by far the most important drum and bass record of its time – and undoubtedly warrants a listen.
Goldie Featuring Natalie Duncan ‘Freedom’ will be released 2nd April 2012.
