Single Review: The 2 Bears, ‘Work’
“We still believe in the redemptive power of the communal dancefloor experience,” say electro-pop duo The 2 Bears. And listening to their music you’d be hard pressed not to believe them. The 2 Bears are comprised of Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard and a man going by the rather odd name of Raf Rundell, and have been receiving positive vibes from Radio 1 DJs and electronic enthusiasts alike in recent months, with their euphoric sound.
Heavily indebted to the Chicago House explosion of the 1990s, The 2 Bears bring their own updated take on the genre, mixing in elements of soul, hip hop and acid house to create a heady fusion of sounds. ‘Work’ is a slice of electro-pop that is sure to be a floor filler in many clubs around the world in the new year with its sing-along chorus and thumping house beats. And The 2 Bears could potentially surpass the popularity of Goddard’s Hot Chip. Watch them roar.
