Snow Patrol Webisodes: Called out in the dark and still cant light up light up

Snow Patrol have released four webisodes for their new single “Called Out in the Dark” from the forthcoming album ‘ Fallen Empires’ which is thought to be dropping on your shores by mid October. They have also released an E.P on the 4th of September as a sort of a teaser for the album including the title track, ‘ Fallen Empires,’ ‘I’m ready’ and ‘My brother’. The video itself was filmed in Los Angeles on July the 30th where its Irish leader and vocalist of Snow Patrol; Gary Lightbody, gave conceptual ideas for the film (if you want to call them conceptual that’s fine, I’d personally call it tosh). The actual film feels to be either just a really silly rendition of a bare bones pop video or clever satire. It entails Lightbody being replaced by Jack Davenport (Pirates of the Caribbean) as lead singer surrounded by dancers on a film set, the video is then cut up into Lightbody trying to get back into the lime light (ironic much) after causing mayhem on set. Tara Summers (Boston Legal) handcuffs Lightbody to the actual set however he still manages to cause commotion and ends up waltzing with Summers toward the end. The music itself is as drearily catchy as with all SP songs; there is however a new side to SP, it seems they’ve worked out how to use a synthesizer and it has now been rumored that there is a techno side to the album which will either be interesting or just down right boring but just like Gary said, “If you don’t try new things you fade away and die,” (please do).
The webisodes themselves are an interesting insight into how they made the video, if you’re a Snow Patrol fan. I still shiver at the thought my great grandmother being sent into the otherworld through cremation fire to the sound of ‘light up, light up, as if you have the choice’ the soundtrack to her demise (cheers mum, great song choice).
