Something For Kate Return With New Single
Something For Kate have returned with their first single in five years, ‘Survival Expert’, and have announced two special album preview shows this August.
Something for Kate, one of Australia‘s most respected and enduring acts, today unveil ‘Survival Expert’, the first single from their highly anticipated forthcoming album ‘Leave Your Soul to Science’ (released 28 September).
‘Survival Expert’ offers the first indication of the eclectic and adventurous nature of the band’s songwriting and sonic development since the release of their previous album, ‘Desert Lights’ in 2006.
Sparse instrumentation and a mechanical backbeat carry singer Paul Dempsey’s opening sentiment ‘I like the way you survive’ through an exploration of just that – survival in all its forms – as the track gathers momentum through a series of crescendos before returning to its original bare bones opening. It’s a fresh sound for the band, and indicative of the sonically adventurous nature of the album as a whole – all serving an amazing collection of songs that show the band moving into a new light, beginning a new phase.
Something For Kate will play two very special shows for fans ahead of a larger announcement later this month of a full album tour for October. These intimate, limited capacity shows will preview tracks from the new album as well as SFK favourites from previous albums, and offers the first opportunity in over four years to see Something For Kate live on stage at close quarters.
Tickets on sale from midday, Tuesday 7 August.
