Spanish Tapas Restaurants In Sydney

Follow us on Google News

In its most basic form, tapas is a small snack or appetiser, where you can pick and choose from a variety of options on the menu. It is essentially a style of eating rather than a form of cooking. Everywhere you go in Spain you will find lively restaurants serving small plates of local delicacies. But we are not in Spain now, we are in Sydney and although there may not be as many tapas restaurants in Sydney, there is still a good few to choose from. Buen apetito!

Spanish Tapas

Alonso’s Spanish Tapas Restaurants in Sydney can be found in both Bondi Beach and Glebe. They are decorated to look authentically Spanish and they have a decent sized bar because no dining on tapas with your colleagues after work would be complete without a San Miguel or Sangria to go down with it. They own a comprehensive menu so that you can order a variety of food to share with friends and is recommended as a great place to eat Spanish tapas in Sydney. They are open seven nights a week and are dedicated to only serving what they do best, which is tapas.

Firefly

In the heart of Walsh Bay, Lane Cove and Neutral Bay sits the infamous tapas restaurant, Firefly. Their location in Walsh Bay is right by the waterfront, the perfect place to share good food, good wine and good times with friends and is a fab place to eat in Sydney. They have an extensive mix of share plates to cover all tastes and a wine menu to wash it all down with. To top it all off, if you befriend Firefly on Facebook, they’ll shout you some free tapas. Bonus. So we suggest you add that to your things to do in Sydney list right away!

El Bulli Spanish Tapas

Many restaurants in Sydney may bill themselves as being authentically Spanish but this one actually is. They conjure up the spirit of Spain with their generous portions of flavoursome tapas. Not only is the Spanish feel in the food, it’s in the atmosphere too where they play their music loudly and if you’re in at the right time, you may just get a flamenco dancer stamping her feet and flicking her skirt while you eat, a definite place to visit in Sydney.

Kika Tapas Bar

This colourfully decorated Darlinghurst eatery boasts a rather comprehensive and equally as enticing Spanish menu. The staff are friendly and are themselves Spanish or Latino which adds to the whole tapas experience. In this particular restaurant in Syndey they cater for both vegetarians and meat eaters and have all the Spanish necessities, such as big jugs of Sangria. Kika is a sociable restaurant that suits best to large groups of people instead of private dining, so is a great atmosphere and place to eat in Sydney for everyone!

Miro Tapas Bar

Miro Tapas bar in Sydney has an underground vibe to it, with private booths, sumptuously red painted walls and dimmed lighting. For a CBD restaurant in Sydney, the prices are reasonable and the variety is large. With paella that you’d expect in Barcelona and Chorizo that tastes fresh from Milan, Miro proves that you don’t need to be in Spain to experience authentic Spanish cooking.

Bodega Tapas Bar

Surry Hill’s Bodega has a long string of recommendations, from The Australian HOT 50 Restaurant Awards 2012 to Sydney Morning Herald’s Favourite Tapas 2008. The recommendations are for a reason, they put their own twist on the tapas which is prepared right in front of your eyes. Not only do they feed you tapas to your heart’s content but on occasional nights you’ll get live music too. We’ve walked by many times to see this place in full swing, so book ahead to get your piece of the action in this unique place to eat in Sydney.
