Follow us on Google News

The hub of contemporary musical and artistic creativity that is Sugar Mountain festival is back in January 2016 with an eclectic line-up that’s just as impressive and broad-ranging as ever.

With its beginnings in 2011, Sugar Mountain is a one-day boutique festival that prides itself on sharing and celebrating creativity, from contemporary music to visual art. This year it is set to return to a brand new location, the Victorian College of the Arts to showcase an imaginative and progressive line-up spanning both genres and generations. Festival-goers can expect music from the likes of Hot Chip, Julio Bashmore, Kate Tempest and Dirty Three.

Not one to be restricted to just music, Sugar Mountain festival is also home to some of the most cutting-edge visual art, with this year set to host the inaugural Sugar Mountain art prize. Designed to provide a promising young artist support at the start of their career, the prize symbolises everything the festival stands for: making creativity accessible.

As if that wasn’t enough to satisfy your senses, Sugar Mountain has also announced the addition of an experimental restaurant concept to the site. Sensory, a collective project by Bomba, Tin & Ed and Cut Copy is a dining experience like no other, offering 50-minute four course meals that explore the relationship between sight, sound, smell, taste and touch.
