Summer Series At Somerset House Is Back

Following the incredible success of the sold out festival last year, Summer Series at Somerset House with American Express returns this year for the 7th year running. With previous years seeing performances from Adele, Bastille, Hot Chip, The XX and Sam Smith, there is no doubt this year’s artists have big shoes to fill. 

Set in the picturesque courtyard of Somerset House, this years festival will play host to a world-class array of headline artists, alongside a selection of this coming years hotly-tipped emerging acts. Each night for two weeks in July, the courtyard stage hosts an array of different artists. To kick of this years Summer Series, Grammy Award Winning Hiatus Kaiyote will be treating the London crowd to their multi-dimensional polyrhythmic cinematic sound all the way from Australia.

Also joining this year’s diverse line-up is Mercury Prize-winning Benjamin Clementine. This multi talented musician and singer-songwriter was born and raised in Edmonton, North London, but found fame busking on the streets of Paris. Often caught playing gigs topless and barefoot, don’t let his scruffy demeanour confuse you, this is one of Britain’s most talented pianist’s and songwriters, mixing his urban upbringing with his love of classical music.

Everything Everything will also be taking stage at this iconic London venue on the back of huge success in 2015, be sure to listen out for their hit single ‘Distance Past’. The huge names don’t stop there though with James Morrison, Courtney Barnett and Laura Mvula also amongst the stand out names that are making this a festival to remember.  Other artists on this year’s unique line-up include; French Musician St Germain, Italian-English singer-songwriter Jack Sovoretti, duo Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott and UNKLE: REDUX finishing off the proceedings.

Year on year Somerset House continue to supply us with unparalleled programmes, with carefully picked line-ups that celebrate the finest musical talents on other. This years line up has further cemented their position as one of the must-see festivals for any cultivated music fan in London.
