Sydney & Melbourne's Best Kick On ClubsHave you ever been out and having such a good time that you just didn’t want it to end? Only for that feeling to be thwarted by the lights going up and the staff kicking your ass out at 3am. Sometimes you’re just not ready to go home, so here at BBM we’ve found you the best kick-on clubs in Sydney and Melbourne for your sleep-avoiding pleasure.

What’s On In Sydney

One22
This is a basement you do want to be in. One22 only opened its doors early this year (and hasn’t closed them till 5am most nights since). Promised to be the unadorned home for electronic music in the heart of the city – and that’s exactly what it is. This understated venue is a little on the small side, but that adds to it’s charm, with it’s wall to ceiling sound system and fresh international DJs dropping in from time to time, at a small charge, you’ll feel right at home if you’re even remotely in to electronic music. You’ll feel equally at home on One22’s dance floor, but get on there fast as it’s not empty for long. The best part is there is no dress code at One22. Wear what you want, what’s important at One22 is you know what music you like and, most importantly, how to have a good time.

Spice Cellar
This is a haven, a halfway house for those who love to explore the nightlife and live for burning that midnight oil. Spice Cellar is a slick outfit with low ceilings and a dark vibe – you’ll be forgiven for thinking that this is a little slice of Berlin in Sydney. The weekly afterhours night Spice is the obvious haunt for anyone part of the kick-on crew. But if you’re not a fan of staying up ’til the early morn, you could drop in early and have a cocktail and who knows perhaps you’ll get attached and stay until morning, because you can. Whether it’s 4pm or 4am you’ll find what you were looking for at the Spice Cellar.
Basement Level, 58 Elizabeth Street, Sydney, NSW 2000

The World Bar
With a queue outside every Friday and Saturday night this place is popular and for good reason. A stronghold for the Deep House aficionados and a great place to chill over some beers or get hype over some shots out of a teapot and dance with your friends. Dust is The World Bar’s premier party night and a perfect destination for lovers of good music and a penchant for not going to sleep, providing the soundtrack to your Sunday night. But if that’s not for you WHAM! is for the Indie Alternative types amongst you. Happening every Saturday night, get ready to throw some shapes on the dance floor because the DJs know how to mix an indie-palooza for your aural pleasure.

What’s On In Melbourne

Revolver Upstairs
Revolver Upstairs is notorious for staying up all night and all day on weekends, anyone who’s been to Melbourne and knows about how to party have heard of this place. Revs (as it’s affectionately known as to the locals) houses the top DJs, live music, dance, film and a host of things that you can’t even imagine. With its eccentric furnishings and bold shades of orange in murals, upside down lamp shades and strangely placed chicken wire, you can tell you’re in for the a crazy night. There’s always going to be something going on at Revs no matter the night of the week, and you’re almost guaranteed a good time. It’s so good that you might have to queue for a while.
229 Chapel Street Pranhan, VIC 3181

Pony Club
The Pony Club is an alternative place where alternative people, bands and artists feel drawn on Thursdays, Friday and Saturdays. The Pony Club is a great kick-on club as it’s open ’til 5am or 7am most nights. It’s a typical Grunge club affair, sticky floors and retro fad couches contrasted with deep red walls and hanging chandeliers offering a little chic in an otherwise standard gig venue. However with six beers on tap and plenty more bottles and a cosy selection of wines to choose from in the downstairs bar, it’s worth giving this little mysterious bar a chance. For those that like their music deep, underground and dirty, even the pony on the door has a good time, pint in hoof.
68 Little Collins Street, Melbourne, VIC 3000

The Motel
Considering itself at the forefront of Melbourne’s club scene, Motel shines through the rough of all the other clubs in Melbourne. Having recently gone through a complete renovation. Taking itself to new levels of luxury and elegance, featuring the best DJ-ing talent both locally and internationally to fuel the dance floor all night long. Friday nights are home to ‘Remember Me’ taking you to Ibiza with commercial clubhouse at the top and mash up fun down in the bottom lobby bar.

Saturdays see Paul Laver taking over for an exclusive party atmosphere. And last but not least Sunday nights open up the city night skyline with the terrace deck. BBQ favourites and cocktail staples are on the menu with the best in live acoustic sets and as the skyline fades to black so does the music, making it the perfect way to finish your weekend with a boogey.
