Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras - 12th Feb - 4th MarIt’s that time of year again, when Mardi Gras hits the streets of Sydney! Mardi Gras is one of Sydney’s top events and it is always a guaranteed party and entertainment central when Mardi Gras comes to Sydney. Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras (SGALMG) will include over 100 different events, including the world famous Mardi Gras Parade. Sydney Mardi Gras is the world`s premier gay and lesbian social, cultural and sporting festival spanning just over two weeks and presented across the City of Sydney and 5 other local government areas. It is an event focusing not only on the fun and excitement of Mardi Gras, but also on diversity and the ethical treatment of others which is another reason for anyone and everyone to turn up and make these parties happen!

Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras kicks off on Sunday 12th February 2012 and to kick off events you should get yourself along to the community social event Fair Day down at Victoria Park. This will be a nice event to kick off proceedings and to get a chance to bring the family along for some good fun during the day. More than 60 events will be happening during the few weeks of Mardi Gras and tickets for some events will be going quickly, so get your wallets out and invest!

Remember the woman who loved James Bond? The one and only Dame Shirley Bassey. Well Shirley will be at Mardi Gras in some form, as Trevor Ashley takes to the stage as Shirley Bassey to belt out a few hits on Thursday 2nd March. Tickets only range from $56.45 to $86.45 so get booking early to catch Dame Shirley in action.

The most famous part of the SGALMG is the annual world famous Mardi Gras Parade. The parade is an expressing of different emotions running throughout every festival goer and the parade features a colourful, outrageous and outright inspiring parade of just about everything! It’s a free event as well, so there’s no excuse not to go now as from 7:45pm – 10pm, you will experience something so totally and utterly amazing you will never forget it.

Home-grown Sydney duo Sneaky Sound System are also due to play during the Mardi Gras festival. The duo will be playing back in their hometown of Sydney at the Mardi Gras Party straight after the parade starting at 10pm and ending at 8am! Couldn’t get much better than that! Tickets are on sale now and are $99 for members and $179 for adult’s premium tickets, with both prices that are started not including booking fees.
So, if you can’t wait for the Mardi Gras’ famous parade, to see Shirley Bassey reborn, or if you can’t resist the final party line-up featuring RuPaul, D.E. Experience, Chicane and Horse Meat Disco, then this Sydney Mardi Gras 2012 will be the best experience for yourself in 2012.
