Sydney Zoo Taronga

Follow us on Google News

TARONGA Zoo is pretty good during the day, but it’s an established fact that animals start talking the Queen’s English after sunset, break out of their enclosures and partake in party games, such as pin the tail on the zebra.
You can see all this for yourself with the zoo’s Roar and Snore package, which gives you one night’s accommodation in the animal enclosure of your choice. And by animal we mean human being, and by enclosure we mean tent.
You can shack up in a fully powered custom built tent that overlooks Sydney Harbour.
The ticket price includes a buffet dinner and a one-and-a-half hour zoo safari accompanied by a guide, as well as breakfast the next morning, behind the scenes exclusives and access to the zoo for that day.
You can book your place through Ticketek.com.

So, what’s the thing with people, huh? – free comedy at Glasshouse Bar
AS a backpacker, nothing beats free stuff. But it’s an added bonus when the free stuff is entertaining as well.
Every Thursday at the University of Technology’s Glasshouse Bar is a bonus at the moment with the free Glass Acts nights. From 7pm onwards, the bar holds a comedy and entertainment night that features ‘international’ and established comics, as well as an open mic section for up and coming acts. If you’ve always considered yourself a comedy genius, now’s the opportunity to prove to an audience not comprised of just your parents and friends.
Better still, because you’re not spending on the entertainment, you’ll be able to splash some money on the bar’s cheap food and drinks.
The night kicks of at 7pm sharp. Anyone wishing to perform should contact Dat Tran on 0425 368 442.
Glasshouse Bar: 15 Broadway, Ultimo, Sydney NSW 2007.
University of Technology Sydney (UTS) Tower.

ROCKS AND FROCKS

THERE won’t be any camel-coated geezers flogging frozen lamb out the back of mobile freezers, or dodgy electrical goods packed into milk crates, but it’s still a market. The Rocks Market is more for your trend setters who wish to pick up a bespoke t-shirt or jewellery, but there’s nothing to stop you taking your own milk crate along with you just to give it that Putney-vibe.
Featuring new designers, the market is situated in one of Sydney’s oldest suburbs with great views of the harbour, so it’ll be a nice place to stroll around even if you have no intentions of buying anything.
Location: The Rocks Square, Playfair Street, The Rocks.
