The 24 Hour Delhi Survival Guide
By Geckos Adventures: the world’s finest purveyors of awesome, small group adventures (even if we do say so ourselves).
Delhi is a city that comes a’knocking as soon as you touch down, with Mughal mosques and ancient forts; spices to sniff and lassis to love; motorbikes to dodge and rickshaws to nab; seriously happenin’ locals to meet and newfound spirits to greet. Welcome to Delhi.
9am – For breakfast, go local and scout out the most delicious looking chapati stand. Served with a curry (trust us on this one) and accompanied by a steaming cuppa of frothy teh tarik, nothing’ll set you up for an adventure quite like a chapati.
10am – Bargain hard for a rickshaw and take the scenic route – camels, cows, goats included – to Old Delhi where the infamous spice market awaits. Prepare your eyes for blinding colours and prepare your nose for a serious once over – sneezes permitted.
12pm – Get seriously and sweetly lost (and emerge enlightened, with the best stories) from the Old Deli bazaars.
2pm – Grab a bite to eat from a street seller and hop on your rickshaw south to New Delhi.
3pm – Kick back in Lordi Gardens, a complete contrast to the hectic city life. Lay back like a local or join in an al fresco yoga class – leave the lycras at home. Namaste.
6pm – Stop at India Gate for the most epic of sunsets. A show like no other, but BYO camera.
8pm – Time to hit the lassi, local style.
Get out there and explore Delhi with Geckos Adventures. You won’t regret it.
