The Artists Of Sugar Mountain 2015
Sugar Mountain is a highly anticipated annual event to the city of Melbourne, not only because it welcomes the biggest range of musicians, singers, bands and DJs to its stages, but also the visual artists you are treated to to compliment the overall atmosphere of the festival. On 24th January, not only will you get to see the likes of Nas, ODESZA, Horse Meat Disco and Oscar Key Sung, you’ll also get to see these artists of Sugar Mountain…
Leif Podhajsky
Renowned for his album covers, Podhajsky has one of the most incredible portfolios, featuring the works of Foals, Tame Impala, The Horrors, Lykke Li and many more. As well as music, the Byron-born artist has created artwork for brands like Nike and Smart Car, using themes of nature and connectedness infused with psychedelic.
Hisham Akira Bharoocha
A Japanese-born artist, Bharoocha is highly skilled in visual art, photography and music. As well as being a member of band, Soft Circle, and working on drum project IIII, he creates works of art based on the absurd functions of the mind and the relationship it creates for clients like Puma, Sephora, Sony and Style.com.
Ash Keating
For something on the large-scale, Keating has showcased his art projects in galleries in both Australia and abroad, having worked extensively with Melbourne galleries and events. Focusing on the practice of painting as well as the end result, he uses fire extinguishers to get the right effect, and will be bringing the unique process to Sugar Mountain right in front of your eyes.
Abby Portner
A multitalented artist, Portner puts her hand to painting, filmmaking, stop motion animation and set design. Based in L.A., she credits horror, childhood and music as her influences, and aims for all of her work to contain a handmade, colourful looseness.
Robin Fox
Master of the laser show, Fox synchronises sound and light electricity for an intense and overwhelming experience. This interactive work allows participants to become a light and noise wizard, taking control with familiar and unusual layouts in a unique environment for a surreal sensory installation like nothing else.
