The Best Bars Inspired By Your Favourite Films And TV Shows
A Harry Potter-inspired bar has opened in Toronto, Canada, and it’s made everyone go a bit mad. Not because it’s overtly Harry Potter-esque with Severus Snape mixing cocktails behind the bar. But because it’s so subtle, it’s uber cool. Wizards and drinks? This has inspired us to find the best bars in the world influenced by our favourite movies.
The Lockhart – Harry Potter
The Lockhart doesn’t confess to be inspired by Harry Potter, but there are hints everywhere that the most dedicated Potter fan couldn’t ignore. Not only is it named after that annoying pillock in the Chamber Of Secrets who casts a spell to make him lose his own memory, but Potter’s Patronus is printed on every beer mat, the cocktails are listed as Potions & Elixirs, and, if you take a good look at the logo, it kind of spells out HP…

Jekyll & Hyde Club – Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
There are some unpleasant surprises at this New York City bar and restaurant, but they’re all part of the experience. Be aware as the creatures and memorabilia come to life as you eat and drink, and watch in horror as Dr. Jekyll transforms into Mr. Hyde. Draught and bottled beer from around the world is the liquor of choice, while food is an adventure of Create-Your-Own-Monster burgers and three-cheese pizzas.

ABQ – Breaking Bad
Our Breaking Bad withdrawals were satisfied this summer in London with ABQ. An RV was shipped over from the US, so that we could “cook” our own cocktails. They might be sol out until the end of October, but users of LOCAPPY have the chance to bag themselves 500 reserved tickets, so you can get cooking just like Walt and Jesse.

Giger Bar – Alien
The art designer behind Ridley Scott’s Alien films, H. R. Giger created Giger Bar in Chur, Switzerland in 1992, and the influence is clear. Everything from the ceiling to the floors and the tables and chairs are modelled on the futuristic films – think metallic grey and chairs with vertebrae. A second bar, Museum HR Giger Bar, opened in Gruyeres, Switzerland in 2003 with the same Alien theme.
