San Cisco’s Rocket Ship Tour has launched into the galaxy full speed ahead with Melbourne’s first show on 2 May now SOLD OUT! San Cisco’s sophomore EP, ‘Awkward’, skyrocketed to GOLD status in Australia as well as propelling into the radio airwaves across the USA debuting at #88 on the CMJ Chart. With influential stations adding the track, San Cisco are hotly tipped in the USA. Back at home, the band launched their EP with a series of SOLD OUT shows around the country, where a chorus of fans joined in to sing-along to their catchy pop rock melodies, revealing a few new tunes as well ‘Awkward’, the song that landed them at #7 in Triple J’s Hottest 100 countdown.

Fremantle’s indie-popsters San Cisco are jumping aboard their rocket ship for a string of sideshows to coincide with their Groovin’ The Moo performances. After whetting the appetite of gig-goers on their sold out national tour with The Jungle Giants, San Cisco will be taking to the road again, this time revealing a few new tunes as well as ‘Awkward’, the song that landed them at #7 in Triple J’s Hottest 100 countdown. The band hasn’t stopped since releasing their sophomore EP ‘Awkward’, which rocketed to Gold status. Jumping on the rocket ship around the nation will be Perth band Voltaire Twins. The brother-sister combination of Jaymes and Tegan are well known for their edgy, fresh take on dance-pop with frenetic on-stage presence and energy, making for a fun-filled set of synth laden dance tunes.

The Getaway Plan will perform this exclusive city show alongside their Groovin’ The Moo spot. This will be the first capital city headline show of the year for the Melbourne four piece, who have just wrapped up a successful festival season that included spots on Big Day Out, Pyramid Rock and Breath Of life. The shows will coincide with the release of the ‘Move Along’ single to radio and TV. The music video for the clip was released last week on YouTube and was filmed at stunning visual locations around Western Victoria.

Following his much celebrated national tour in January last year around Big Day Out, Manhattan based Andrew W.K. returns with his one-man-party band this May. Already announced for Groovin The Moo, Andrew will perform this headline show! Andrew W.K., the multi-faceted musician and performer famous for his bloody nose and white clothes, exploded into the world in 2001 with his extremely high-energy rock ‘n’ roll music and ‘party hard’ ethos. He’s released four albums, numerous EPs and special releases, including his now infamous 2001 debut album ‘I Get Wet’ featuring the anthem ‘Party Hard’, and is set to release another album this year. In addition to his music, Andrew has more recently expanded into a Grammy-nominated record producer, a sought after motivational speaker, and is the host of a popular television series, ‘Destroy Build Destroy. Those who witnessed Andrew in solo mode during his 2007 Australian tour, which included an unforgettable Meredith performance</a>, will know these shows are not to be missed.

Flap! play original music that is both old and new, inspired by the entire human diaspora. Influences from 1920s jazz, Gypsy brass, English folk and Trinidadian calypso can be heard peeping through their antipodean vein. A fiery-yet-charming five piece band of brass, guts, words and skins who crank out up-tempo songs, Flap! Turn ordinary shoes into dancing ones. Husky enters a new chapter of their career in 2012. Last year they played national sold out headline tours in Australia following the release of their debut album ‘Forever So’, featuring singles ‘History’s Door’, ‘Dark Sea’ and ‘The Woods’, they supported world-class acts including Gotye, Devendra Banhart, and Noah & The Whale, and played at some of Australia’s biggest music festivals. Already in 2012 the band has supported Laura Marling, played at St Jerome’s Laneway Festival, and booked performances in Germany, the USA and Canada. In April they return home to play West Coast Blues and Roots Festival before hitting the road on this tour.

The always fun, slacker surf pop and noise punk outfit Wavves in 2011 sent out a very public plea to Foo Fighters front-man and idol in the form of track ‘I Wanna Meet Dave Grohl’ from the EP ‘Life Sux’. After shaking things up at Golden Plains in 2011 in support of the much-loved ‘King of the Beach’ single, Wavves are back for another blast of their ramshackle goodness.

After releasing ‘All Eternals Deck’ to critical acclaim last year, The Mountain Goats will be bringing their unique brand of American indie storytelling to Australian audiences once again. ‘All Eternals Deck’ is an eclectic mix of inspirations ranging from century old painting to ‘70s cult films, singer songwriter John Darnielle explaining that the tracks “cluster around themes of hidden things and the dread that hidden things inspire”. Recorded across four different studios, each with a different producer, ‘All Eternals Deck’ demonstrates how different seasons, moods, producers and locations play out into song and confirms that John Darnielle is one of the most innovative and creative songwriters of this generation.

For the very first time in Australia, Grammy nominated New Orleans three piece, Mutemath, are visiting for Groovin’ The Moo and this city show. Since 2004 the genre bending trio have taken it upon themselves to deliver music that is unequivocally and defiantly their own. Since releasing their first EP in late 2004, Mutemath’s inherent nature has challenged limitations and expanded parameters. By the time they released their 2006 self-titled debut, their blending of adverse genres into its own innovative sonically adventurous creation earned them a reputation as one of modern music’s most daring young groups. Born in Manchester in 1958, and writing his first song at the age of 10, Barry Adamson was known to skip school and wait at home for the postman to deliver the latest Alice Cooper import from America. Home life was coated with the rhythms of motown and jazz, while Roxy Music and David Bowie shaped his teenage years. Recording five albums with Howard Devoto’s Magazine, he moved to London in the ‘80s, working with Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds across three albums. Over time he began making a series of sketches and tunes that would become the trace elements of his erotic, paranoid style; densely portrayed in his debut solo album, ‘Moss Side Story’. Several albums later and Adamson is now set to release another, ‘I Will Set You Free’, featuring the song ‘Turnaround’, in 2012. Now free of the shackles of expectation, prepare to take a ride aboard one of the year’s finest releases.

The legendary Canadian blues guitarist and singer songwriter Harry Manx, last here in 2010, returns to our shores for a series of guest appearances at some of our best known music festivals and a national headline tour including this show. Harry Manx has spent years fusing eastern musical traditions with the blues, switching effortlessly between conventional guitars, harmonica, and banjo and the decidedly different Mohan veena, a 20-stringed instrument invented by Manx’s Indian mentor Vishwa Mohan Bhatt. Manx is often referred to as the “Mysticssippi Blues Man” because of his expertise in melding both East and West music together, “creating musical short stories that wed the blues with the depth of classical Indian ragas”.

British India emerged from the fertile underbelly of Melbourne’s independent music scene to take Australia by storm in July 2007 with their acclaimed debut album ‘Guillotine’. As their songs ‘Black & White Radio’, ‘Tie Up My Hands’, ‘Run The Red Light’ and ‘Russian Roulette’ became arm-raising, air-punching anthems at venues and festivals across the country, British India developed a hard-earned reputation for their explosive live shows. Several more albums followed and British India are still going strong in 2012, playing the St Kilda Festival in February this year and now getting ready to tour nationally in support of their next single.
