The Flaming Lips At Harvest Festival
One of the most adventurous and original bands of their time, 3 time Grammy award winners, The Flaming Lips have been wowing alternative audiences for over 20 years.
Formed in Oklahoma City in 1983 the experimental psychedelic five-piece have undergone many changes in both musical direction and line-up.
Making their first US top 40 hit with 1993s rock-ditty She don’t use Jelly The band’s real leap to iconic success came with 1999’s The Soft Bulletin seeing the band breaking musical boundaries with its unique blend of instruments and style. Their journey in this direction continued to see them received further critical praise with albums such as fan-favourite; Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots and 2006’s At War With The Mystics.
In 2010, the band also recorded their own version of Pink Floyd’s infamous Dark Side Of The Moon with guest appearances from Black Flag’s Henry Rollins and Peaches.
With one of the most interesting stories in rock history as well as a healthy back catalogue of 13 studio albums and a list of other adventurous musical releases and endeavours as long as your arm, The Lips don’t look like they’ll be stopping anytime soon as 2011 has seen several more EP releases and tours.
