The Most Extreme Experiences In Australia
Australia doesn’t do anything by halves. So big it can’t even be classed as an island, but an island continent, it takes this philosophy and implements it onto the activities you can do. A land for daredevils, thrill-seekers and adrenaline junkies, these are the most extreme experiences in Australia. Take them on – if you think you’re hard enough…
Falling From Space
So, not quite space, but still really high – skydiving is an iconic Australian adrenaline activity, and available in many beautiful parts of the country. With the incredible views combined with the feeling of free falling, landing on the beach is without a doubt the most popular location, whether in Cairns, Margaret River or Darwin.

Join The Elite
If the spectacular scenes in Top Gun have ever given you the yearning to fly, you can become an actual jetfighter pilot in Australia. Feel the power of the aircraft between your fingers and take to the skies with a professional. Not a cheap extreme experience by any means, just don’t forget your Aviator sunnies!
I Am Iron Man (Well, Close Enough)
We humans have a strange desire to achieve the feeling of weightlessness – maybe it has something to do with our obsession to be fit and beautiful… Anyway, we digress. One of the newest extreme sports is flyboarding – just wait for the high-pressure water jets to shoot water out from a pair of boots and you can fly up to 15 metres in the air, doing flips, spins and all sorts. You can even dive into the water like some kind of human-dolphin hybrid.
Fish Are Friends, Not Food
They get a bit of a bad name in the waters around Australia, but you can really admire the power, size and sheer brilliance of great white sharks during a cage dive. After a short boat ride to the Neptune Islands from South Australia, you, the diver, are lowered into the water in a cage, while the sharks go about their business, swimming around, sizing you up, just being nosy, really.
What Lies Beneath
Not for the claustrophobic or those with a poor sense of direction, Cave Diving is an extreme sport in Australia. Due to the formation of the underwater world beneath us, there are caverns, caves and sinkholes waiting to be explored. However, as an extremely dangerous sport, it also requires training, which can be done with the Cave Diving Association of Australia.
Cage Of Death
The terrifying name says it all. You can get up close and personal to Australia’s deadliest land animal – the saltwater crocodile – by jumping into the Cage Of Death (a transparent cylinder) and spending the next 15 minutes sharing the same water as this frightening five-metre reptile. Only available in Darwin in the Northern Territory, this is the closest you can get to a saltwater croc without actually being eaten alive.
