The TAP Gallery Theatre Production, Nov-Dec 2012
The TAP Gallery presents a ‘Cathode Ray’ production ‘A Steady Rain’ by Keith Huff from November – December 2012.
Remember the time Hugh Jackman went off at an audience member in the front row when their phone rang during a performance? That show was A Steady Rain and the Australian premiere plays from November 20 to December 8 at the TAP Gallery, Darlinghurst.
A little bit original ‘Starsky & Hutch’ mixed with a dose of ‘The Wire’, Cathode Ray Tube are proud to present their highly anticipated fourth production, under the direction of Owen Trevor (BBC’s Top Gear),
This dark duologue, filled with sharp storytelling and biting repartee, explores the complexities of a lifelong bond tainted by the rough streets of Chicago. Best friends since kindergarten, Denny and Joey (played by Michael Booth and Sam O’Sullivan) have been working together as cops on the beat for several years, they’re practically family: Joey helps out with Denny’s wife and kids; Denny keeps Joey away from the bottle.
When a domestic disturbance call takes a turn for the worse, their friendship is put on the line. The result is a harrowing journey into a moral grey area where trust and loyalty struggle for survival against a sobering backdrop of pimps, prostitutes, and criminal lowlifes.
Cathode Ray Tube cement their reputation for powerful and naturalistic performances with a focus on storytelling and characterisation.
