The Temper Trap Guitarist Lorenzo Sillitto Quits
Australian alternative rock band ‘The Temper Trap’ has found itself one guitarist down today. Lorenzo Sillitto, who has played in the band since 2006 and featured in their two records, ‘Conditions’, and the self-titled ‘The Temper Trap’, has announced his decision to leave the band.
He says, “I leave the band with a heavy heart but it was time for me to try new things. I’ve loved everything about The Temper Trap. It’s been an incredible experience.”
Sillitto was also was also working with the band on their third album, currently unnamed, which is due to be released in early 2014. He said, “I always felt we weren’t going to hit our stride until this next record,” so his decision to quit may come as a surprise to fans around the world.
In the statement on the band’s website, the guitarist goes on to say, “I want to thank the boys for all the amazing times, places we have seen and played and laughs along the way, management, record labels, the many people who’ve supported the band throughout the years, the many friends I’ve made and of course the fans – it has been an amazing journey, an experience I will never forget and one that changed my life.”
The multiple ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Association) Award-winning band are perhaps most famous for their 2009 hit, ‘Sweet Disposition’ from their debut album, which reached no. 6 on the Official U.K. Singles Chart and also featured in the sound track of Golden Globe-nominated film ‘500 Days Of Summer’.
It’s a sad day for the remaining members, who have been gracious in their band mate’s decision to leave, “Loz has been a great friend and a valued and important member of The Temper Trap since he joined in 2006. His creativity and commitment to the band over the years has been first class and we wish him all the best with the exciting events that are about to come into his life.
“The bond we all formed in those early years in Melbourne and endless kilometres in the Tarago has been with us through the good times and got us through the tough times so while we’re sad to lose a guitarist, we are not losing a friend.”
