The Weather Station Loyalty Review

‘Loyalty’ takes form of a storybook; with every track, Tamara Lindeman delicately tells us her everyday life stories, where her hushed vocals and attention-to-detail lyrics form an album of sublime, spiritual folk music.

The third album from the indie group, recorded in a French 19th-century mansion, reflects how The Weather Station has fully found their authentic sound, providing us with an earthly-filled 11-track album. Lindeman’s timeless, simple yet soft style captures the true meaning of folk charm, leaving us feel at peace with earth.

Recording the whole album in just a week, ‘Loyalty’ includes tender songs that are inspired by the landscapes and natures, infusing an organic feel to her wise owl vocals, complemented by an acoustic string backing.

‘Way It Is, Way It Could Be’, truly is a perfect opener to the album, with natural sounds, brilliant song writing and an intimate feel, the song starts off the album delicately but engages you to keep listening.

The uncomplicated music could be seen as quite uneventful and repetitive, however it also balances out all other elements of the album, to fit perfectly together, and sound mesmerising. Lindeman puts her personal touches onto the album, involving her life experiences and personal relationships, resulting in an album proving that folk music is still very much alive and graces our ears throughout.
