Forged from wrought iron, crafted with angular timbers, moulded by stunning design and nurtured by Melbourne’s cultural vibrancy, the Workshop, which opened in January 2006, is now firmly established as one of the city’s top social venues and a hub for Melbourne’s thriving street culture.
Whether it’s to catch up for coffee, make use of our high speed wifi connection, to enjoy lunch on the open air decking, catch up with mates for drinks, to take a wander through our gallery space, or to rock it at the weekend, the Workshop has it covered.
The Workshop is more than a bar and takes pride in being involved with Melbourne’s creative community. With a big focus on music, The Workshop has hosted a menagerie of eclectic acts over the years and is committed to showcasing the best musical talent around, be it fresh local talent or established international acts. Five nights a week are devoted to the decks, Tuesdays are reserved for acoustic talent. Entry to Workshop is always free.
Art and design is also an intrinsic part of the Workshop experience. Featuring an award winning bar design, and with a passion for visual art and design, the Workshop has provided an early platform for some of the city’s best known artists and designers. Whether it be art on the gallery space walls or a design installation using Workshop’s other nooks and spaces, The Workshop provides a commission and fee free space for local talent with exhibitions rotating on a three weekly basis.
Workshop would have to be the most competitively priced venues within the CBD. Unashamedly striving to remain fresh, it also houses an impressive range of local and imported beers and specialty liquors. Open seven days a week from mid morning till late,
it is unquestionably worth hunting down and checking out.
