What’s on this month at The Gasometer Hotel? Well, keep reading, kids!

Friday 1st August
Empire of Poets – album launch with The Scouts & Waywardbreed – $10 on the door.
Doors 8pm
Hawk Moth Records presents the long awaited launch of ‘Songs of Written Leaves’, the debut album from Melbourne Lo-Fi/Psych/Folk outfit Empire of Poets at The Gasometer. 18 months in the making, ‘Songs of Written Leaves’ is an intimate yet epic piece, with references spanning decades. Think Sparklehorse, Flaming Lips, Pink Floyd but also Sonic Youth, Elliott Smith, Neil Young, and none of the above. A rare and unique sound that both embraces the Lo-Fi spirit of its creators, while serving as a statement of intent for things to come. Supports on the night from alt-denim Country rockers The Scouts and the deep, dark song stylings of Waywardbreed. And for afters, it’s JJ “Bandcamp Hunter” Baker on the vinyl to swallow the night… Good times all round.

Friday 8th August
Pretty City ‘Roll On’ tour with special guests
Doors 8pm
After gaining some attention with their rollicking Rock & Roll single ‘Piece Of The Puzzle’ earlier in the year, Melbourne lads Pretty City returned to the studio to capture some ideas that had been brewing on tour. The result, ‘Roll On’, is an explosive riff-tastic ride that blends Brit Rock and classic 70s Rock, teetering on the edge of psychedelic innovators Deep Purple and Cream. The ‘Roll On’ tour stops off in Melbourne at The Gasometer.

Saturday 9th August
My Echo with special guests – Tickets $12 + BF from Oztix / $15 on door.
Doors 8pm
Since forming in 2010, Melbourne four-piece rockers, My Echo have been making strides on the Australian music scene with their raw and punchy songs, continuous touring, and sheer persistence. Packing sweaty rooms around the country supporting numerous Aussie long players, including Bodyjar, Shihad, Trial Kennedy and King Cannons, the band are set to storm 2014 with their self-titled EP release. My Echo now return to Melbourne to play the Gasometer with special guests.

Saturday 23rd August
Livingstone Daisies – album launch with The Dead Salesman Duo $15 + BF from Oztix / $18 at the door.
Doors 8.30pm
How do you get over the so-called difficult second album syndrome? Release your second album first! Livingstone Daisies – Michael Barclay, Liz Stringer, and Van & Cal Walker – came together through absolute serendipity. A happy accident, the musical friends, siblings, and partners who felt like getting away for a weekend beachside recorded some music which resulted in a brand new band and two full length albums (all before even playing a show). They decided to release their second session as their debut, under the title ‘Don’t Know What Happiness Is’, and the album was received well by both punters and critics, and the band began playing shows and festivals to packed audiences around the country. And yet the first album remained unreleased…until now! With the help of their fans, the Livingstone Daisies second (or first?) album ‘Waiting On The Last Minute’ is now ready for release. Livingstone Daisies launch ‘Waiting On The Last Minute’ at the Gasometer Hotel with special guests The Dead Salesman Duo.
