Single Review: Tokimonsta – The Force Classically trained LA beatmaker Jennifer Lee, aka TOKiMONSTA, has crafted a name for herself over the last few years with a string of critically acclaimed releases on Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder imprint, Ramp Recordings and Art Union.
This long-awaited debut single, ‘The Force’ is an exciting, tribal-esc beat layered with deep bass swoops and thick textures that are faultless. The vocal addition comes curtsy of the prolific, game changing rapper, Kool Keith; whose name alone means something good is happening here.
Lee’s ability to create such an electrifying sound, mixed with Keith’s skills on the microphone have resulted in this supreme, ‘in a league of its own’ track. Make sure you keep an ear out for TOKiMONSTA’s debut album scheduled for release later in the year. We can’t wait to hear more!
