Single Review: Tom Misch & Carmody – ‘The Last Song’
A combination of Folk and UK Garage may seem like the strangest combination possible, right? But surprisingly Tom Misch and sweet acoustic Folk singer Carmody more than pull it off, creating a handsome sound of a mash up of acoustic guitar and beats. Not to mention the alluring and beautiful harmonic vocals.
The track begins with a twangle of guitar chords met with a tinkering of soft beats, as Carmody sings lovingly over the backing. Met with male vocals the setting becomes even more romantic as two voices harmonise each other on, “But didn’t you know all this love is for you?… This is the last song that leaves me mouth for you.” A complimentary pairing.
A strange collision of genres creates a charming serenade that has you wanting to sing along. It’s refreshing under beat gives the Folky vibrancy of the track a whole new lease of life.
