Top 5 Late Night Bars In Sydney
Top 5 Late Night Bars In Sydney Sydney is meant to be a 24 hour city, but let’s be honest, since the Responsible Service of Alcohol, ‘glassing’ trends and the suburb of Manly in general, licensing laws have really tightened up. Basically put, if you have been anywhere else in the world, you will not be happy with the state of Sydney at 2am when you want a drink. Here at BBM however, the staunch alcoholism bred into our system has led us to explore the late night open avenue, here are our top picks of places to stay until sunrise around the responsible city.
The Abercrombie Hotel
Corner of Broadway and Abercrombie St, Broadway
Recently re-bought and absolutely not redecorated from the grungy uni student living room chic it has always displayed, The Abercrombie is now open until at least 5am. There are couches, outside benches, and a super awesome little dance hall dance floor in between where DJs stream 90’s music like it was actually once cool. The house tequila tastes like Amyl Nitrate and the bartenders are often as drunk as the patrons but if you want some grunge and like to “check-in” at trendy kid hotspots on Facebook then The Abercrombie is the place for you. You very sleazy, 6am kebab dribbling sweaty awesome “Nirvana were the pinnacle of grunge” talking mess of a person. Oh and during the day they serve a beautiful and cheap array of mostly deep- fried stuff if you fancy revisiting the scene of the crime to cure the hangover.
Kinselas
383 Bourke St, Darlinghurst
This is a place that is open until 6am, and it seems like that when you are in there. The décor’s nice and it’s a giant space with a fully loaded bar. There is always an open door, and if you want, there is a ping pong table, which pretty much makes it for us. The bar has recently added a great new cocktail section and the bartenders are still getting used to it, they are generally friendly and will pour you any shot you ask for. The space of the area is great, you can sit out the front on Taylor Square to watch the local ‘wildlife’, or inside you can be devoured by chairs that will eat you up in the most comfortable fashion or dance around the jukebox.
Flinders Hotel
63 Flinders st, Darlinghurst
If you like busy places, pickles, and models leaning against walls you will hit the jackpot at Flinders Hotel. Always open late, always blaring the latest indie kid trend in remix’s, re-hauls of past music fads and always covered in a hell of a lot of skinny kids in vintage clothes. The place is decorated like a teenagers wet dream, and more importantly, if you have boobs you can flash
them for a free glass of champagne. All the shitfaced cool kids are hanging out talking about blogs and dancing like it is a high school house party, it is a fun night out! Watch your head in the morning; the signature pickle-back shots (Jamesons and pickle brine) are lethal.
The Royal George
320/330 George st, CBD
This is the cosy brick pub side of the Merivale group and it is a beautiful, warm, pint pouring late night joint. It is open later on Thursdays and Fridays, but don’t be put off by the drunken Ivy crowd pouring out in their pumps, you can have a great game of pool downstairs or sit up and enjoy the fun little decorations like longneck lights and chalk illustrations. As a plus the bar seems to only hire good looking people, so have a beer, have a perve and enjoy the mood lighting.
Pyrmont Bridge Hotel
96 Union St, Pyrmont
Top 5 Late Night Bars In Sydney This is the “really shouldn’t but always do” 24 hour pub of Sydney. It is always packed full of drunks. It will take you a long time to get a drink and is a sweaty heaving mess of booze, but that’s its appeal. It has three levels of debaucherous fun and conversation with people that you would never usually talk to, you can laugh and joke and speak as loudly as you want, and it’s open for 24 hours of the day, 7 days a week. Trust us when we say, you will do it.
